Had a Dat live?
Question: Hi Gman! I'd like to know if there is any version of Had a Dat live. I found a bootleg "Dog gone blues" that I thought I could find it but I was wrong. This song (live) really exists? You know where I can find it? Thank you!
Answer: Well, I always thought that the
one on the "Sensimilla 86 -96" boot was a "live" recording because it
says so on the back cover, but then I heard it & I realized it was
the same as the "SHS" one.
And then, also, Miguel says in "STLE"
how they recorded "Had a DAT" and "Chick on my tip"- "Live to tape" at
Cal State University Dominguez Hills ... So, I guess that means that the
track was recorded "live" and not in parts or overdubbed.
So,
There's only one version that is released ...
However, on some of
the cassette releases, "Had a DAT" sounds a little different. Here,

Plus,
as far as I know, they never played it "Live" in Concert;
unfortunately.
