Question about Get Ready & Crazy/Foolish Fool
Question: Hey G-man just wanted your expert opinion. I had somebody tell me that the song Get Ready was originally Foolish Fool & he also said that brad changed Foolish Fool Lyrics Because they were weak and that Foolish Fool then became Get Ready. To your knowledge Is there any truth to this statement because i think they are 2 totally different songs & I thought that foolish fool was originally called crazy fool then they changed name on box set. Thanks! Hit me back!
Answer:
Hey Guys,
You're right. "Get Ready" & "Foolish Fool" ("Crazy Fool") were never the same song... they are two totally different songs.
"Crazy Fool" was done way back in like 1994-95 & was a "cover" song. It was actually released on "Pure Anus" but it was just a studio jam from a practice session. Believe it or not, it was based on the Dee Dee Warwick song called "Foolish Fool" & that's why when it was remastered & released for the Box Set, the title was changed from "Crazy Fool" to "Foolish Fool".
The Original can be found here:
And, for "Get Ready", Bradley just made that song up on the fly while they were in Texas doing the "S/T" album. The band (well, Bradley) only had 4 songs done for the album when they left California & they went into the studio in Texas, so a lot of it was done on the fly and/or improvised while the tape was rolling. "Get Ready" was one of the songs that went from "Jam" to "Song" on the spot out at Willies Place.
The line: "These Crazy Fools....." was just thrown in there (or an "ad-lib") because it went with the flow & the vibe of the song.
The two songs have nothing to do with each other,.... other than the fact that they are both by sublime... lol ... and both are bad ass.
I hope this helps.
"All Sublime All The Time"
Peace,
GMan
