"Santeria" / "What I Got" live??
Question: So i haven't asked a question here forever, but for some reason i remember you (or one of the other experts) saying to someone (or maybe me, i forget) that they never played santeria or lincoln highway dub live. well... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hz6597pXCA8&feature=related also, i somehow stumbled upon some clip of them doing "what i got" live (got to about 4:03) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrpZGTzvbjA&feature=PlayList&p=0F654DD307E29A61&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=66 i had no idea until recently that they ever played either of these live. anyway, if you could hook me up w/ links to 4/29/92, paddle out, burritos, under my voodoo, or doin time (the only s/t songs i haven't heard them do live) that'd be sick. thanks man.
Answer: Hey Dan,
Yeah, Kinda... You're right,... but not really.
They never "officially" played either of those songs "live".
Meaning, the ones that you posted (and heard) are:
A.) "Santeria" is only a "sound-check jam" from the "Last Show.... JUST a "jam" & with no vocals. They did not ACTUALLY play the song during that show (or any other).
and
B.) The version that you hear of "What I Got" is from the "Memories" bootleg/show in Everett, WA in 1994. At that point, Bradley was working on the song (had "ideas", etc.) but hadn't even written anything. He was taking his ques from Half Pint's "Loving"...

and, so that was basically just a "Jam" as well.
They (unfortunately) didn't get around to playing most of the "S/T" album, however I have two live versions of "Paddle Out"...

No luck with the other songs; as of yet, but they'll come out.. hopefully sometime in the future....
And,... The 4/29/92 wasn't a date that they played as far as I know... they played the night before.....

That's all I got for ya right now Bro,... I hope this helps.
